Rawda Shawkat
I'm Rawda, a versatile artist and designer whose creative journey has led me through diverse mediums and across continents. My passion for art and design began early in life, culminating in my graduation from the German University in Cairo in 2021 with a degree in Applied Arts and Sciences, majoring in Product Design with a specialization in Furniture Design.
My artistic exploration started during my formative years, and I further honed my skills by immersing myself in interior design under the guidance of Hala Imam in Cairo, Egypt, for two years. This laid a strong foundation for my diverse creative pursuits.
Throughout my academic years and beyond, I have fearlessly explored and excelled in various artistic disciplines. My repertoire spans Visual Arts, Photography, Dance, Graphic Design, Illustration, Furniture Design, Interior Design, Lighting Design, Home Styling, and Creative Directing. I am a true polymath, constantly seeking new avenues for artistic expression.
Dance holds a special place in my heart. Beyond being a visual artist, I am deeply engaged as a dancer and choreographer. My dance journey started at the tender age of four, and have since explored various dance forms such as ballet, jazz, Egyptian folklore, modern, and contemporary. Driven by my conviction in movement as a powerful means of expression, I moved to Saskatoon in 2021 with aspirations to leave an impression on the Canadian dance scene.
Curiosity about the human body's capabilities and potential for artistic expression led me to pursue certification in Sports Sciences from the International Sports Sciences Association. In July 2023, I proudly achieved certification as a professional trainer, further enriching my expertise as a dancer and choreographer.
My passion for visual art extends to painting, which I have been practicing since my early childhood. Over the years, I pursued various art courses and worked with different organizations and artists in Egypt. In 2017, I marked a significant milestone when my artwork was displayed in my university's art gallery. I have successfully sold my art both to individuals and companies in Egypt and continued this practice after relocating to Saskatoon.
I am committed to lifelong learning and continuously seek opportunities for growth and development. I firmly believe that learning is a journey without end, and as such, I remain dedicated to improving my skills and expanding my horizons. My artistic endeavors are a testament to my unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of creativity, embracing new challenges, and celebrating the boundless potential of artistic expression.
